Prep roundup: Nipomo sweeps softball doubleheader with walk-off grand slam in second game
The Nipomo High softball team swept Carpinteria in a home nonleague softball doubleheader Saturday, including winning the second game in dramatic fashion with a walk-off grand slam.
Nipomo won the first game 3-2, and the second game 10-8.
Freshman Ahlijah Realin hit the winning blast with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning in her second at-bat of the game. She had entered as a pinch hitter in the sixth.
Vanessa Davis was 2 for 4 with two RBI, and Kiesa Romero had a two-run single for Nipomo (5-4, 0-2 Los Padres League), which had rallied from a 7-0 deficit that was built on Carpinteria’s own grand slam in the third inning.
The Titans won the opening game 3-2, behind Hope Goodall’s complete-game four-hitter. Goodall was also 4 for 4 with a double and a run. Gennae Abatti was 1 for 3 with two RBI.
