Prep roundup: Arroyo Grande baseball beats Paso Robles 10-1
The Arroyo Grande baseball team beat Paso Robles 10-1 on Wednesday, avenging Tuesday’s defeat by the Bearcats.
Mason Alex went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI, and Brayden Pinkerton was 2-for-3 with thee RBI.
Cameron Hirahara had a double and two runs scored, and Marco Salto went 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run and striking out four.
The Eagles (4-2, 1-1 PAC 8) play Paso Robles again on Friday at 7 p.m.
San Luis Obispo 3, St. Joseph 0
Cooper Benson and Benny Rodgers combined for a shutout for the Tigers.
It was the first varsity start for Benson, who lasted four innings allowed four hits while striking out four. Rodgers pitched three innings in relief, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out three.
Matt Navarro went 2-for-3 with a single and a double, and Matt Mundorf also went 2-for-3.
Atascadero 4, Pioneer Valley 3
Nolan Meredith pitched a complete game for the Greyhounds, striking out six and walking one.
Pioneer Valley had 10 hits, but timely defense by Atascadero — including a pair of double plays — kept the Greyhounds in the game.
Atascadero (5-2, 1-1 PAC 8) had eight hits, and Mason Meredith went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and caught the complete game.
The Greyhounds finish the three-game series on Thursday at Pioneer Valley.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Arroyo Grande 3, Mission Prep 0
The Eagles won in straight sets, 25-5, 25-16, 25-17.
Setter Sasha Bylsma has 26 assists and five kills, and Jack Tourdot added eight kills.
Andy VanBogelen recorded five kills and three blocks for Arroyo Grande (8-0, 5-0 PAC 8).
BOYS TENNIS
Paso Robles 12, Mission Prep 6
The Bearcats (4-5) took all nine doubles sets.
Dean Kim and CJ Wilson won 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, and Ryan Stronks and Evan Proulx swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
No. 3 doubles Sebastian Galsim and Jason Belton also won 6-0, 6-1, 6-0.
Luke Llaurado swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Mac Valentine won 6-0, 6-3, 6-2, for the Royals (0-5 PAC 8), who return to action April 5, hosting Righetti.
TRACK AND FIELD
San Luis Obispo 101, Atascadero 33 (boys); San Luis Obispo 96, Atascadero 37 (girls)
Matt White won the boys 1600 meters in 4 minutes, 46.9 seconds, and Dylan Archer won the 200 meters in 53.8 and was on the winning 4x400 team (3:37.3) for the Tigers.
Callum Bolger won the 800 meters in 1:59.8 and the 3200 in 10:19.4.
Andrew Toh placed first in the 100 in 11.0 seconds and was on the winning 4x100 team for San Luis Obispo.
Aaron Reantazo won the 300 hurdles in 45.0.
In the field events, Emmett Fox-Pendergrast won both the shot put (42 feet, 3 inches) and the discus (130-11). James Higgins won the high jump (6-1) and the pole vault, clearing 13 feet.
Javon Montgomery won the long jump in 20 feet, 3.5 inches and William Stoll won the triple jump, totaling 39-11.
On the girls side, Sarah Attala won the 100 hurdles (17.0), the 100 meters (13.2) and was on the winning 4x100 team (52.4) for San Luis Obispo.
Carolyn Adams placed first in the 300 hurdles (49.9), and Hope Morgan won the 3200 in 12:34.9.
The 4-by-400 team also won for the Tigers.
Cece Devaney won the high jump in 5-0 and the discus at 117-5. Anneke Moersdorf won the long jump (14-2 1/2) and Elizabeth Willey was victorious in both the pole vault (9-6) and the triple jump (31-10).
Both the San Luis Obispo boys and girls teams improved to 2-0 in duals this year.
Arroyo Grande 87, Paso Robles 49 (boys); Arroyo Grande 79, Paso Robles 52 (girls)
Matt Sill won the boys 300 hurdles in 40.61 and the 110 hurdles (16.61), and Ty Jones won the 200 in 23.28.
Arroyo Grande’s Eddie Chagoya won the shot put with a toss of 50-11 and won the discus (147-6).
Geo Abuan won the triple jump (39-4 1/2) and the long jump (19-5 1/2) for the Eagles.
Gerrit Sperling was first in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, and Vincent Ketelaar won the high jump with 5-11 for Arroyo Grande.
Paso Robles’ Trad Berti beat out teammate Joshua Potter in the 800, 1:59.02 to 1:59.88.
Alaiza Tiongston won the girls 100 (13.07) and 200 (27.17), and Leza Cassidy won the 800 in 2:27.96 for Arroyo Grande.
Samantha Henkel won the shot put with a throw of 38-9. Amber Martin beat teammate Henkel with a throw of 103-1 to Henkel’s 102-5.
Josephine Graeber placed first in the girls long jump with 15-11 1/2 for the Eagles.
Paso Robles’ Madison Mitchell tied with Arroyo Grande’s Alycia Balderam in the high jump at 4-10. Mitchell also won the 300 hurdles in 48.77 and the 100 hurdles in 16.52.
Madison Owens won the 3200 in 14:05.29, beating out Bearcat teammate Amanda Schultz by 0.01.
Ashley Davis was first in the 1600 in 5:10.81, and Gwen Lundy won the 400 in 1:04.13 for Paso Robles.
