Prep Notebook: Mission Prep’s Patrick Miller commits to UC Davis
Mission Prep’s Patrick Miller has committed to play football at UC Davis in the fall.
Miller, a 6-foot-3, 208-pound senior who played both linebacker and tight end for the Northern League champion Royals, was recruited by UC Davis to play outside linebacker, according to his father, Jim Miller.
Miller had 40 catches and seven touchdowns on offense and 56 total tackles on defense last season. Miller finished his football career at Mission Prep with 1,190 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
UC Davis, a member of the Big Sky Conference in the FCS, ended last season with a 2-6 record.
Local ballers selected to All CIF-SS Teams
Four prep basketball players were named Monday to All CIF-Southern Section teams.
On the girls side, Arroyo Grande senior Ashlyn Herlihy was named first team in Division 2AA. A pair of Mission Prep players, senior Jacqueline San Jule and junior Jennifer Laird, were named first team in Division 5AA.
On the boys side, Mission Prep junior Kyle Stewart was named to the first team squad in Division 4AA.
Herlihy and Stewart were selected last week as The Tribune’s County Players of the Year.
Boys Volleyball Poll
The Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo boys volleyball teams are ranked in the top 10 in the latest CIF-Southern Section Poll.
Arroyo Grande (6-0-1, 3-0 PAC 8) is ranked No. 5, while San Luis Obispo (10-6-0, 1-1 PAC 8) comes in at No. 7. Arroyo Grande won the only meeting between the two, 3-0.
Arroyo Grande has only dropped one set so far this season.
San Luis Obispo plays Tuesday at home against Pioneer Valley, while Arroyo Grande doesn’t play again until April 7.
