Prep roundup: SLO, Nipomo split softball doubleheader
The San Luis Obispo and Nipomo softball teams split a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Nipomo won the first game 9-2, and San Luis Obispo rebounded in the second to win 13-3 in five innings.
Hanna Gibbs pitched four innings of relief, striking out two and allowing a pair of runs for the Tigers in the first game. Bee Soll went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the loss.
In the second game, Sami Good pitched four scoreless innings, striking out five and allowed one hit.
“(There was) better focus and energy in the second game,” San Luis Obispo coach Dan Monroe said.
Mrissa Piatt had a double, a triple and 3 RBI, and Hanna Murphy hit her third home run of the season, a solo shot.
Soll went 3 for 4, and Natalie Zielger was 2 for 3, with a single, a double and two stolen bases.
The Tigers (3-2-1) had 12 hits in the second game.
San Luis Obispo hosts Monache for a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Lompoc 117, Morro Bay 53 (boys); Lompoc 95, Morro Bay 74 (girls)
Lompoc took both the boys and girls competitions at home on Wednesday.
On the boys side, Jack Malzone won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 58.49 seconds.
Alissa Marvin won a pair of races on the girls side: the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
San Luis Obispo 3, Santa Ynez 0
The Tigers defeated Santa Ynez in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15.
