Prep track roundup: San Luis Obispo’s Callum Bolger sets school record in 3,200 meters
San Luis Obispo High’s Callum Bolger set a school record in the 3,200 meters on Saturday at the Atascadero Memorial Invitational.
Bolger won the event in a time of 8 minutes, 57.88 seconds. Coach Adam Basch said that is the No. 1 time in the state across all divisions, and one of the top times in the nation.
Other winners for the Tigers were the boys 4x200 relay team of Andrew Tow, Nick Madonado, Dylan Archer and Nate Higgins in 1:35.15.
Higgins also won the boys 400 in 51.94 seconds. Jackson Martin won the boys pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches) and Will Stoll won the boys long jump (20-2 1/2 ).
Hope Morgan won the girls 3,200 in a time of 11:48.
Paso Robles had two athletes post multiple wins. Madison Mitchell won the girls high jump (5-0), the girls 100 hurdles (17.46) and the girls 300 hurdles (48.55). Kristen Thompson won the girls discus (122-9) and the girls shot put (38-3).
Templeton’s Clayton Mackay won the boys 110 hurdles (15.74) and the boys 300 hurdles (39.41).
Mission Prep had four event winners. Max Basile won the boys high jump (6-2), Paige Baxstresser won the girls 100 (13.16), Joe Miller won the boys 200 (23.77) and Alyssa Caldera won the girls 200 (26.57).
Morro Bay’s Audrey McClish won the girls 1,600 in 5:30.83.
Arroyo Grande at Clovis East Invitational
Josephine Graeber won two events and was part of a winning relay team for the Eagles.
Graeber was first in the girls long jump (16-8 1/2 ) and the girls triple jump (34-9). She was also part of the girls 4x100 relay team that took first in 51.85, along with Ban Lisa Phung, Taryn Tweedy and Jazmin Davis.
Malea Simon won the girls 3,200 in 11:09.52, a personal best.
The girls 4x400 relay team of Angela Gemignani, Hayley Chavez, Emma Johnson, Talley Hill was second in 4:11.29.
Gerritt Sperling won the boys pole vault with a height of 12-9, and Geo Abuan won the boys triple jump with a distance of 38-3. Matt Sill won the boys 300 hurdles in 40.9.
Christian Ricketts was second in the boys 1,600 in 4:25.4, and Eddie Chagoya was second in the boys discus (151-5).
