Prep baseball roundup: Mission Prep loses, SLO wins two

The Mission Prep baseball team lost 6-5 to King City in their season opener on Saturday. Hunter Losee went 2-for-4 with a single, a double and two runs and Andy Boncich had a two-RBI double, two runs and a pair of walks.

The Royals return to the field next Saturday in a double header against Bishop Diego.

San Luis Obispo 7, Nipomo 1; San Luis Obispo 10, Nipomo 1

Tru Wells went 3 for 4, with two RBI and had two runs scored to lead the Tigers in their season opener. Jeremy Jess pitched five innings, allowing one hit and striking out six with one walk.

Ollie Hicks added a pair of hits with a run scored. Six different players had a hit for the Tigers.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Brooks Lee went 4 for 5 with a run and Connor Maydole went 3 for 4 with three RBI. Jess added a pair of RBI and had two runs scored and Matt Mundorf had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

The Tigers host Morro Bay on Friday at 6 p.m.
