Nipomo High swimmers shine at Los Padres League event in Lompoc

The Nipomo High swim team had four swimmers place in the top 10 at the Los Padres League Pentathlon on Friday at the Lompoc Aquatic Center.

The event uses a scoring system that awards points for times in events, with the lowest score winning the event. Each swimmer competed in the 100-yard individual medley, the 50 butterfly, the 50 breaststroke, the 50 backstroke and the 50 freestyle, with the times added together for the final score.

The Titans had the top two finishers on the boys side. Peyton Kiunke was first with 166.94 points, while Tyler Melsheimer was second with 170.55 points.

In addition, Joe Gocke was fourth in the boys competition with 179.01 points, and Anika Smith was sixth in the girls competition with 208.76 points.
