SLO High boys soccer beats Beckman in CIF playoffs
The San Luis Obispo High boys soccer team beat Beckman 3-0 Wednesday to advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinals.
The Tigers opened the scoring two minutes into the game when Brian Finger scored on a Tristan Torres assist.
The second goal came 20 minutes into the half when a Cole Halfman shot was parried by the goalkeeper into the path of Branden Dolezal, who scored.
In the second half, the Tigers added an insurance goal on a corner kick by Keith McCarty.
McCarty sent the ball across the box and found Jake Maino, who headed the ball back across the goal to Finger, who volleyed it home.
Benji Alonso had nine saves to preserve the shutout.
“The shutout was really important,” coach James Boscaro said. “We wanted to send a message to the other teams.”
The Tigers (19-3-3) will travel Friday to play Cathedral (22-1-2).
