Prep girls basketball playoff roundup: San Luis Obispo wins playoff road game

The San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team beat South El Monte 46-39 in overtime in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3A playoffs on Thursday in El Monte.

Anika Meyer and Stephanie Brenner each had 14 points for the Tigers (13-13). San Luis Obispo led 17-16 at the half and outscored South El Monte by seven points in overtime.

Brenner missed a free throw at the end of regulation, corralled the rebound and tied the score to force overtime.

San Luis Obispo hosts Leuzinger at 6 p.m. Saturday in the second round of the playoffs.

Mission Prep 61, Einstein Academy 6

Jacqueline San Jule had five assists, and freshman Mia Gonzales scored 16 points in the rout.

Mission Prep takes on Silver Valley on Saturday in the second round of the playoffs.

Paso Robles 54, Sierra Vista 33

Grace Rosa scored 20 points despite foul trouble to help the Bearcats earn a win in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3A playoffs.

Kim Buchanan had 13 points and Gwen Lundy added nine points.

“Bailey Lewis and CeCe Ramirez came off the bench and played outstanding, their hustle and rebounding gave us a huge spark,” coach Heidi Sill said via email.

Nipomo 64, El Segundo 51

Kiesa Romero scored 18 points and had five rebounds for the Titans (14-13) in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs.

Kylie Mendez added 11 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds, and Vanessa Davis added seven points and four rebounds.
