Arroyo Grande High girls water polo team is No. 1 seed in Division 3 playoffs

The Arroyo Grande High girls water polo team was named the No. 1 seed in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs, it was announced Saturday.

The Eagles (21-6), the PAC 8 champions and defending section champions, open the playoffs on Wednesday with a home match at 5 p.m. against the winner of the Sunny Hills-Corona wild-card game.

Riverside’s M.L. King Jr., which Arroyo Grande beat 6-4 in last year’s section final, is the No. 2 seed. Mira Costa is the third seed, while Troy is the fourth seed.

Also in Division 3, two San Luis Obispo County teams go on the road for wild-card games Tuesday. San Luis Obispo travels to Alemany Mission for a 5 p.m. game, and Paso Robles is at El Rancho, also at 5 p.m.

In Division 6, Morro Bay travels to Poly/Pasadena for a 5 p.m. wild-card game Tuesday.
