Prep girls basketball: Mission Prep tops St. Joseph 50-26
The Mission Prep girls basketball team earned a 50-26 victory over St. Joseph on Wednesday. Noelle Laird led the Royals with 11 points and five rebounds and I’raya Smith had eight points in her return to the court after an ACL injury.
Jacqueline San Jule added eight points and five steals for Mission Prep (14-8, 8-3 PAC 8).
Arroyo Grande 51, Paso Robles 45
Arroyo Grande overcame the Bearcats’ 17-11 first-quarter run, largely in part to Ashlyn Herlihy’s 12 fourth-quarter points. Herlihy also went 4-of-6 from the free throw line for the Eagles (15-7, 9-2 PAC 8), who took the lead with four minutes left after trailing for much of the game.
Herlihy would finish with 30 points and Brynn Thoming added 10 for Arroyo Grande.
Grace Rosa scored 12 points and Kim Buchanan added 10 for Paso Robles. Gwen Lundy chipped in nine points for the Bearcats (5-6 PAC 8), who host Mission Prep on Friday.
Pioneer Valley 38, San Luis Obispo 28
Megan Stoudenmire led the Tigers with 11 points, who battled despite being down 27-9 at the half. San Luis Obispo (10-12, 3-8 PAC 8) held Pioneer Valley to just 11 second-half points.
San Luis Obispo plays at Atascadero on Friday.
