Girls water polo: Paso Robles earns a win on senior day

The Paso Robles High girls water polo team earned an 11-6 victory over Atascadero behind four goals by Makenna Pugh.

Mackenzie Raymond added three goals, and Miranda Pasky and Marina Smeltzer had two goals each for the Bearcats (14-10, 3-2 PAC 8).

Kelsey Lewis had six saves in goal for Paso Robles.

Lily Holloway had three goals, and Brooke Story added two for the Greyhounds (11-14, 2-4 PAC 8).

Paige Coburn recorded 14 saves in goal for Atascadero.

The PAC 8 Tournament begins next Tuesday and concludes Thursday. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday, playing at 1 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.

“It was a big win at home for the seniors and their last game here,” coach Grant East said, whose team graduates seniors Lewis, Pugh and Nichole Landon.

Arroyo Grande 16, St. Joseph 1

The Eagles improved to 17-2 and 6-0 in league play with Brittany Winn, Isabella Solis and Sam Vitt each scoring three goals.

Sarah Kasper, Arden Taylor and Taylor York each had a pair of goals for PAC 8-leading Eagles.

Arroyo Grande will play Coronado in the SoCal Tournament on Thursday.
