Girls basketball: Nipomo tops Morro Bay 39-27

Kiesa Romero and Vanessa Davis had 12 points apiece to lead Nipomo past Morro Bay 39-27 on Tuesday.

Kylie Mendez distributed 11 assists for the Titans (12-11, 8-3 Los Padres League).

Nipomo plays at Templeton on Thursday.

Templeton 52, Santa Maria 39

Annie Elterman scored 16 points and had four steals, and Julia Aurignac had 12 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks for Templeton (9-10, 5-6 LPL).

Haley Hurdle added eight points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles who had 46 total rebounds as a team, preventing second-chance opportunities from Santa Maria.

Valley Christian 46, Coast Union 26

Karis Lawson had eight points, five rebounds and two blocks, and Meg Stern added four points and 15 rebounds in the Broncos’ loss.

Both league losses for Coast Union (7-4, 7-2 Coast Valley League) have come against Valley Christian this year.

Ashley Martinez added four points, five rebounds and two steals for the Broncos, who face Cuyama Valley on Friday.
