Boys basketball: Mission Prep defeats Pioneer Valley 66-40

The Mission Prep boys basketball team beat Pioneer Valley 66-40 on Wednesday night, led by Kyle Stewart, who scored a game-high 21 points.

Matt Blaney scored 12 points and Max Basile added nine.

After scoring 26 in the first half, the Royals scored 19 points in the third quarter and 21 points in the fourth.

The win gave coach Terrance Harris his 200th win in nine and half years at Mission Prep. “The players won those games,” Harris said. “The players here have been commited to exellence.”

Mission Prep (12-8, 7-1 PAC 8) plays at Atascadero on Friday. “Atascadero has been playing very well, we know we’re going to have to be on our A-game,” Harris said.

Coast Union 57, Cuyama Valley 30

Auggie Johnson led all scorers with 14 points, and Jack Mackinnon had 12 points for the Broncos. Coast Union (11-8, 7-0 Coast Valley League) jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first quarter.

San Luis Obispo 74, Paso Robles 54

Seth Moore scored 20 points and both Nick Attala and Augusto Supertino had 12 points for the Tigers. Alex Chai added 10 points for San Luis Obispo (13-9, 4-4 PAC 8), who play Friday night against Arroyo Grande.
