Prep soccer roundup: San Luis Obispo boys down Arroyo Grande in PAC 8 opener
The San Luis Obispo High boys soccer team rallied to win its PAC 8 league opener, beating Arroyo Grande 3-1 behind two goals from Branden Dolezal on Friday.
The Tigers trailed by one early, but a Dolezal’s goal tied the score at 1-1 late in the first half.
Dolezal scored his second off a corner kick by Keith McCarty, who would later cap the scoring with a goal of his own, which was assisted by Grayson Stewart.
Benji Alonso had five saves for the Tigers (7-2-1, 1-0-0), who play Righetti on Monday.
St. Joseph 3, Paso Robles 0
The Bearcats had 26 shots — 14 on goal, but failed to find the back of the net.
Victor Rodriguez had five saves in goal for Paso Robles (5-4-4, 0-1 PAC 8), which will look to rebound Monday against Atascadero at home.
GIRLS SOCCER
San Luis Obispo 3, Arroyo Grande 0
Olivia Ortiz, Amelia Corpuz-Carr and Joella Holmes each scored goals in the Tigers’ PAC 8 opener.
Amber Nunes, Corpuz-Carr and Genevieve Basich-Pease each had assists on the night.
Eislee Sohner and Lili Artusio combined for the shutout, combining for three saves for San Luis Obispo (9-0-1, 1-0). The Tigers play Righetti on Monday.
Nipomo 4, Orcutt Academy 0
Cydney Crowe opened the scoring for the Titans and Jackie Lopez had another, as Nipomo jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the Half. Lopez added another in the second and Tatiana Silva capped the victory with one more.
Julisa Soto and Kate Russell had a combined shutout and three saves for the Titans (6-7-2, LPL 1-3-0), who host Templeton on Tuesday.
