Prep sports roundup: Atascadero girls basketball team beats Mission Prep for first PAC 8 victory

Reylyssa Reyes scored 15 points, and Ariana Gonzales had 14 more as Atascadero beat Mission Prep 44-37 on Friday night for the Greyhounds’ first PAC 8 win of the season.

Atascadero improves to 4-6 and 1-1 in league.

Noelle Laird had 10 points, and Jennifer Laird added seven for the Royals (7-6, 1-1 PAC 8).

Paso Robles 62, St Joseph 58

Kimmy Buchanan had a team-high 24 points, Grace Rosa had 13 points and Bailey Lewis had 12 points for the Bearcats.

Buchanan scored seven points in double overtime, and Natalie Barahona made a free throw with 13 seconds to go to put Paso Robles (2-10, 1-1 PAC 8) up by four.

Valley Christian 35, Coast Union 28

Emily McAvoy had four points and 14 rebounds in the Broncos’ loss.

Terrance Lawson scored six points and had a pair of assists, and Ashley Martinez added six points, two steals and two rebounds for Coast Union (2-6, 2-1 Coast Valley League), which travels to play Maricopa on Tuesday.


Paso Robles 15, Lompoc 1; Paso Robles 8, Arroyo Grande B 7

Lauren Root, McKenna Pugh, Torri Pugh each had three goals at the Arroyo Grande Tournament.

Kelsey Lewis had eight saves for the Bearcats.

In the second game of the day, Pugh, Veronica Ayala, Marina Smeltzer each had a pair of goals and Lewis notched 17 saves to preserve the win for Paso Robles.

Paso Robles (9-3) continues play in the tournament, with three games tomorrow starting with San Luis Obispo at 10 a.m.
