After going 0-14 last season, the Morro Bay High boys soccer team got its first league win since Feb. 4, 2014, on Thursday night in thrilling fashion.
Jorge Montesdeoca scored in overtime on an assist from Eduardo Garcia to give Morro Bay a 3-2 win over Nipomo.
“We played really well,” Morro Bay coach Andrew Wilkie said. “It was definitely a step forward.”
Morro Bay (2-5-1, 1-2 Los Padres) trailed 2-1 at halftime before Garcia scored to tie it.
Leif Besmehn scored the lone first half goal for Morro Bay.
The loss dropped Nipomo’s record to 0-3 in the Los Padres League and 1-11-2 overall.
After getting rained out on Tuesday, both teams will play Friday. Morro Bay will play at Templeton at 3:30, and Nipomo hosts Orcutt Academy.
