Prep girls basketball roundup: SLO High defeats Paso Robles 45-30
Junior guard Whitney Burns scored 15 points, and senior forward Stephanie Brenner added eight of her own as the San Luis Obispo High School girls basketball team defeated Paso Robles 45-30 on Wednesday night in a PAC 8 league opener.
“Our energy and intensity was good for four quarters,” SLO High coach Daniel Monroe said. “When you hold a team to 30 points, you have a shot to win every game.”
Ten of 11 players scored for the Tigers (8-4, 1-0 Pac 8), prompting Monroe to call the win “a total team effort.”
For Paso Robles, Grace Rosa scored 16 points, while Kimmy Buchanan added 13.
San Luis Obispo next plays at Arroyo Grande on Friday.
Paso Robles will host St. Joseph, also on Friday.
Mission Prep 40, Pioneer Valley 32
The Laird sisters were at it again for Mission Prep in a win over Pioneer Valley.
Jennifer “Boo” Laird had a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Noelle Laird had 12 points.
St. Joseph 60, Atascadero 53
The Greyhounds fell to 0-3 in PAC 8 play with a road loss to the Knights.
Reylyssa Reyes scored 21 points for Atascadero (2-8).
