SLO High girls water polo team beats Atascadero 13-6
The San Luis Obispo High girls water polo team topped Atascadero 13-6 on the road Tuesday behind Addie Foster and Autumn Faccinto, who each had four goals.
Samantha Wright and Sofia Terry each added a pair of goals, and Rachel Lovato had four saves and six steals in the win for for San Luis Obispo (4-4, 1-1 PAC 8), who will compete in the Arroyo Grande Tournament this weekend.
Faith Archibald scored five goals for Atascadero, and Isabella Bishel added one in the loss. Paige Coburn notched five saves for the Greyhounds (5-5, 1-1), who take on Righetti Thursday.
PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL
Nipomo 48, Orcutt Academy 23
Kayla Zalesny had 11 points, and Kiesa Romero added nine more in the Titans rout. Nipomo improves to 2-1 in the Los Padres League and 6-9 overall.
The Titans host Morro Bay on Thursday.
Coastal Christian 47, Cuyama Valley 24
Jordan Stone had 20 points to lead the Conquerors over Cuyama Valley. Melody Parker added 14 points, and Delaney Springer chipped in with nine points for Coastal Christian (5-0, 2-0 Coast Valley League), who remain undefeated. The Conquerors travel to face Providence on Jan. 12.
Morro Bay 50, Templeton 42
Willow Bailey had 20 points and Leana Delacruz added 16 points in the Pirates’ victory. Bailey had 15 first half points and Delacruz hit 3 of 4 from behind the arc. Senior Julia Fonturbel had her second double double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Julia Aurignac had 11 points, 15 rebounds and seven steals, and Annie Elterman registered 12 points in a loss for the Eagles (5-6, 1-2 LPL). Templeton took the lead to start the fourth quarter but came up short. The Eagles host Santa Maria on Thursday.
