Prep girls basketball: Templeton knocks off Paso Robles

Templeton 59, Paso Robles 47

Sophomore Julia Aurignac recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Templeton girls basketball team to a 59-47 win against Paso Robles Wednesday afternoon at the Righetti Tournament in Santa Maria.

Annie Elterman chipped in 15 points and five assists, and Haley Hurdle grabbed nine rebounds for the Eagles (5-5).

Templeton returns to Los Padres League play Jan. 5 at Morro Bay.

Atascadero 51, Pioneer Valley 43

Reylyssa Reyes poured in 23 points to lead the Atascadero girls basketball team to a 51-43 victory over Pioneer Valley on Wednesday afternoon at the Righetti Tournament.

Ariana Gonzalez added 14 points, and Taylor Degnan pulled down 14 rebounds for the Greyhounds, who improved to 4-8 overall.

Atascadero is scheduled to begin PAC 8 play Jan. 6 at St. Joseph.

San Marcos 33, Mission Prep 32

Mission Prep finished in fourth place at the Under Armour Holiday Classic in San Diego after falling by one point to San Marcos.

Noelle Laird finished with 9 points and 13 rebounds for Mission Prep (6-5). Jacquline San Jule was named Tournament MVP and finished the game with 10 points and 4 steals on Wednesday.

“Tough loss today,” Mission Prep coach Andrew Richardson said. “But we’re excited for league play to start Wednesday.”

The Royals open up against Pioneer Valley at home.
