Prep boys basketball: SLO High equals last season’s win total with win at Holiday Classic
San Luis Obispo 61, San Dieguito Academy 54
San Luis Obispo equaled its win total from all of last season with a 61-54 win on Wednesday over San Dieguito Academy at the Under Armour Holiday Classic in Torrey Pines.
After struggling in an overtime loss Tuesday, Seth Moore rebounded with an 18-point performance for San Luis Obispo (9-5).
Augusto Supertino added 16 points, and Nick Atalla had 10 for the Tigers.
San Luis Obispo finished the tournament 2-2.
The Tigers open their 13-game league schedule on Wednesday against Paso Robles at home.
San Luis Obispo went 9-19 last season.
Coast Union 60, Templeton 51
Jez Lawson scored 15 points for Coast Union in a 60-51 win over Templeton on Wednesday.
Coast Union (6-8) jumped out to the early 18-9 lead in the first quarter in the back-and-forth game.
Auggie Johnson made four 3-point shots and finished with 14 points for the Broncos.
Matteo D’Alfonso scored 24 points, and Robby Kaiser had 17 for Templeton (3-8).
Templeton opens league play against Morro Bay on Wednesday. Coast Union plays Valley Christian Academy on Friday.
Paso Robles 62, Montclair 42
Sebastian Galsim scored 16 points, and Trevor Weiger added 6 for Paso Robles in the win over Montclair at the Atascadero Holiday Tournament.
Weiger was also named to the plus All-Tournament team.
Paso Robles (4-7) plays San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.
Westlake 56, Arroyo Grande 55
Bradley Mickey led the way with 15 points for Arroyo Grande, but a back and forth game went Westlake’s way on Wednesday night.
Four players scored in double digits for Westlake led by Hunter Gettings with 17 points.
Patrick Angle, 11 points, was the only other player besides Mickey to crack double digits.
Arroyo Grande (8-4) will play for third place at the Under Armour Holiday Classic at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Oak Park 56, Mission Prep 39
The Mission Prep boys basketball team fell 56-39 to Oak Park on Wednesday in the consolation game of the Under Armour Holiday Classic.
Kyle Colvin led Mission Prep with 11 points.
Mission Prep starts league play Jan. 6 at home against Pioneer Valley.
