Mission Prep boys defeat Beverly Hills
The Mission Prep boys basketball team beat Beverly Hills 58-55 at the Mission Prep Christmas Classic on Tuesday. Kyle Colvin scored 14 points - 13 coming in the fourth quarter for the Royals. Matthew Blaney added 15 points.
Mission Prep (3-4) trailed by two points after three quarters but bottled up Beverly Hills’ Denzel Holt in the fourth quarter to retake the lead. Holt had 25 points for Beverly Hills, but only scored four in the final quarter.
“We mixed things up in the fourth quarter,” coach Terrance Harris said. “Forced a couple other shooters to take shots.”
Mission Prep plays at 4:30 p.m. against Jesuit.
SLO High girls fall to Santa Monica
The San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team fell 40-37 to Santa Monica in its third game at the Santa Barbara TOC Tournament on Tuesday. Santa Monica closed the gap with a 16-9 advantage in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers are 6-4 on the year and play Channel Islands at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
