Prep soccer roundup: Atascadero boys win at Garces Tournament
The Atascadero High boys soccer team won 5-0 over Liberty Madera on Friday at the Garces Tournament.
Connor Setting scored a pair of goals for the Greyhounds, and Alex Marca scored another assisted by Jose Pena. Izaiah Sheeter found the back of net on an assist by Abraham Reyna, who also assisted Sergio Castillo on a goal. Atascadero (6-2) had 25 shots on goal.
The Greyhounds continue tournament play at 10:45 a.m. against San Joaquin Memorial.
Mission Prep 2, Firebaugh 1
Sam Oeser and Hunter Alexander each had goals for the Royals at the Garces Tournament.
Isaac Rutiz and Jacob Christian both had assists for Mission Prep (3-5).
Morro Bay 1, Garces 0 OT
Isaac Manuputy broke a tie with a golden goal in overtime on a pass by freshman Nick Murphy for the Pirates (1-3-1), to earn their first win of the season against the tournament hosts.
Morro Bay continues play in the tournament at 10:45 a.m.
GIRLS SOCCER
Atascadero 2, Central Valley Christian 1
The Greyhounds played in the Garces Tournament against Central Valley Christian and won.
Hannah Flickinger scored both goals for the Greyhounds, and Skyler Fleming had five saves in the win.
The Greyhounds improved to 5-0 on the year.
