Prep girls basketball roundup: SLO High girls beat Nipomo

Stephanie Brenner and Whitney Burns scored 11 points apiece in the San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team’s 40-29 win over Nipomo at the Holiday Classic on Saturday.

The Tigers (4-3) outscored the Titans 14-3 in the fourth quarter to finish 2-2 in the tournament.

San Luis Obispo coach Dan Monroe said the Tigers allowed 12 points in the first quarter, then only allowed 11 points in the second half.

“Our defense really tightened up in the second half,” he said. “We played with a lot of aggression and a lot of intensity and forced them to take a lot of tough shots.”

San Luis Obispo heads to the Santa Barbara TOC tournament on Saturday.
