Prep wrestling: Morro Bay goes 3-1 at Santa Maria duels

Joe Morris went unbeaten to help the Morro Bay High boys wrestling team to a 3-1 record at the Santa Maria Varsity Rotation Duels on Saturday.

The Pirates beat Cabrillo 58-16, beat Channel Islands 63-18, beat Nipomo 45-34 and lost to Nipomo 48-33 at the event.

Morris went 4-0 with two pins at 126 pounds.

Cole Visconte (160) went 3-1 with two pins, and Luis Alvarez (170) also was 3-1 on the day.

Brandon McGinley (152) went 2-2.

Paso Robles at Clovis West Shootout

The Bearcats’ Blake Irish went 4-1 and took third place in the heavyweight category.

John Cabrall (195) and Nathan Garcia (152) were 3-2 and finished sixth. Julian Madrigal (145) went 2-2 and was seventh.

Paso Robles finished 14th at the meet. Clovis was the winner.
