Prep girls basketball roundup: Mission Prep downs Camarillo at SLO/Morro Bay tournament
The Mission Prep girls basektball team’s defense held Camarillo scoreless in the second quarter, and the Royals came away with the 40-35 win Thursday at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament.
Noelle Laird had her second consecutive double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) for Mission Prep (3-2).
Jacqueline San Jule, who recovered from a recent flu, added 11 points and four assists.
Mission Prep plays Ridgeview on Friday at 5 p.m. at Morro Bay High.
Nipomo 52, Arvin 31
Sidney Aguilera had a team high 14 points and Abby Guiterez had 12 in Nipomo’s win at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament.
Kylie Mendez distributed 11 assists and Vanessa Davis had five rebounds for the Titans (2-4), who play again Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Camarillo at San Luis Obispo High.
Bakersfield 50, Atascadero 30
Taylor Degnan led the Greyhounds with eight points in a loss at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament on Thursday night.
Degnan also had 11 rebounds for Atascadero (1-3).
The Greyhounds continue the tournament Friday against Templeton at Morro Bay High at 6:30 p.m.
Woodlake High 43, Coast Union 29
Ashley Martinez had seven points and four rebounds, and Regan Kniffen had seven points, four rebounds and a block in the Broncos’ loss.
Emily McAvoy added four points, two rebounds, a steal and block for Coast Union (0-3).
Meg Stern pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss for the Broncos, who play Shandon on Tuesday.
Garces 40, Paso Robles 38
Grace Rosa and Kim Buchanan each had 12 points in the loss for the Bearcats (1-3) in a loss at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament .
Paso Robles went 10 for 18 from the free-throw line.
Bakersfield 39, San Luis Obispo 34
Cami Storlie led the Tigers with nine points in a loss at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament .
San Luis Obispo (3-2) plays Arvin on Friday at 8 p.m.
Righetti 46, Templeton 27
Annie Elterman had a team-high 12 points and Julia Aurignac had 11 rebounds and eight points for Templeton at the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay Tournament.
The Eagles (0-2) play Atascadero on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
