Prep soccer roundup: Atascadero girls defeat Templeton
Rachel Foley scored two goals for the Atascadero High girls soccer team in a 3-0 win over Templeton in a nonleague match Thursday.
Foley also assisted on a third Greyhounds goal by Hannah Flickinger. Serena Ramirez and Makayla Fetzer also had assists.
Atascadero is now 4-0. The Greyhounds don’t take the pitch again until league play begins Jan. 6 against St. Joseph.
San Luis Obispo 6, Cabrillo 0
Amelia Corpuz-Carr and Joella Holmes each had a pair of goals for the Tigers, who scored three goals in each half.
Maddie Johnson and Kristina Smelser added a goal apiece as San Luis Obispo improved to 4-0 on the year.
The Tigers host Selma on Friday at 5 p.m.
Santa Maria 2, Coast Union 1
The Broncos gave up the game-winner with 2 minutes to play in a nonleague game at Santa Maria.
Paulina Torres scored a first-half goal for the Broncos (1-3-0), assisted by Kaelani Riberia. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime.
Cynthia Cadena made five saves for Coast Union.
BOYS SOCCER
Paso Robles 2, Morro Bay 1
The Bearcats opened the scoring in the first half, but Morro Bay came back to tie in the second half before Paso Robles pulled out a victory.
Isaac Manuputy shielded the ball and cut the ball back to Mauro Salazar, who found the back of the net.
The Bearcats broke the tie with 15 minutes left after a loose ball wasn’t cleared by the Pirates (0-2-1).
