Prep boys wrestling roundup: Morro Bay tops San Luis Obispo 42-41
The Morro Bay High boys wrestling team defeated San Luis Obispo 42-41 in a close meet to open the season for the Pirates.
Gabe Scheer (106), Mark Cano (138) and Luke Buentiempo (195) each had a pin, helping to lead Morro Bay to victory.
The Pirates (1-0) travel to Nipomo to take on the Titans on Wednesday.
Paso Robles 58, Santa Maria 33
The Paso Robles High boys wrestling team defeated Santa Maria on Wednesday night.
Kris Sanchez (132), Rhett Perez (138), John Cabrall (220) and heavyweight Blake Irysh each won via pin, leading the Bearcats to the win.
Nathan Garcia (152) won his match via decision.
Arroyo Grande 40, Santa Ynez 36
Arroyo Grande knocked off Santa Ynez in a close matchup Wednesday.
With the team trailing 36-25, freshman Levi Frey (132) had a key pin over Justin Arnold. Senior Jacob Hubert (138) followed with a win via technical fall, and Isaiah Rocha (145) won in a major decision to lead the Bearcats past the Pirates.
