San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team rolls past Morro Bay
One day after the San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team struggled on offense in a season-opening loss, the Tigers bounced back for a 55-35 win over Morro Bay on Friday night at the Ruth Doser Tournament in Atascadero.
San Luis Obispo scored 25 points in a 46-25 loss to Aquinas, and Tigers coach Dan Monroe said they shot “15 percent from the floor.”
But against the Pirates, after a slow start, the Tigers started scoring. San Luis Obispo put up 21 points in the fourth quarter in the win.
“We had a slow start but we picked it up,” Monroe said. “I think we finally found our rhythm offensively in the second half.”
Whitney Burns led the Tigers (1-1) with 17 points, and Cami Storlie and Stephanie Brenner added 13 apiece.
Willow Bailey scored 11 points and was the only player in double figures for Morro Bay (1-1).
“Our defensive itensity was awesome,” Monroe said. “We were aggressive and I think it really took them out of their game.”
