San Luis Obispo boys basketball team starts season with a win
The San Luis Obispo High boys basketball team opened the season with a 90-51 rout of Santa Maria in a nonleague game Saturday in San Luis Obispo.
Nick Attala scored 34 points for the Tigers (1-0).
“Nick Attala had a monster game,” assistant coach Trey Francke said. “He must have had at least 12 to 15 rebounds too. He was constantly scoring in the paint all night long.”
The Tigers led 40-31 at halftime, but pulled away in the second half, limiting Santa Maria to just 3 points in the fourth quarter.
Seth Moore had 15 points, making three of the Tigers’ six 3-pointers, and Will Compton added 12 points for San Luis Obispo, which shot 12 of 13 from the free-throw line.
