The Coast Union High volleyball team’s playoff run came to an abrupt end Saturday night, when the No. 3 seed in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5AA playoffs fell to California Lutheran of Wildomar in a quarterfinal match in Cambria.
Janelle Bohey had seven kills for the Broncos (15-4), who lost in three sets, 25-10, 25-19, 25-17. California Lutheran (25-5) was the third-place team from the Arrowhead League.
“I knew they’d be good,becuase that’s what you get in the quarterinfals, you get some really good teams,” coach Pam Kenyon said. “They had a bigger block than we anticipated and hit with a little more pace. It kind of had us on our heels a little bit.”
Gigi Stoothoff five kills and two aces, and Xue DiMaggio added four kills and four aces.

Kenyon credited her seniors — Diana Cisneros, Reagan Kniffen, Bohey and DiMaggio — for the strong season and deep run in the playoffs.
“I thought they were phenomenal,” she said. “Our seniors were standouts all season long. They carried us for most of the season. I’m super pleased with their performance in particular.”
