The Mission Prep football team scored 41 points in the second quarter en route to a 54-19 victory Friday night over Morro Bay, clinching the Northern League title.
One-Two punch: Brayden Corona had three touchdowns for the Royals, and Bryce Fledderman threw for three more, finishing 8 of 11 for 135 yards. Corona scored on runs from 12, 45 and 29 yards.
Mission Prep front seven: The pass rushing tandem of Conrad Ochotorena and Jacob Wright pressured the quarterback, forcing the quarterback out of the pocket. That pressure contributed to the back-to-back pick-6s thrown by Archie Torres late in the second quarter. Taylor Mainini had a 19-yard interception return, and Patrick Miller had the other from 10 yards out.
Ochotorena recorded his eighth sack of the year, tying Wright. Andrew Boncich had another for the Royals.

Loss of Manuputy: Manuputy was lost after the first quarter due to an apparent injury, but he showcased the elusiveness that makes him so dangerous, extending plays and getting first downs with his legs. He got Morro Bay on the scoreboard in the first on a 2-yard run.
Brandon McGinley had two touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the Pirates, scoring on runs from 25 and seven yards out. He also had an interception in the first quarter.
What it means: The Royals finish with an 8-2 overall record and finish undefeated in Northern League play.
The Pirates conclude the season 0-10 and 0-4 in league play.
Morro Bay’s coach David Kelley had only one word to say about the season: “Perseverance”.
