Morro Bay’s McClish wins Los Padres League championship

Freshman Audrey McClish ran her way to a first-place finish at the Los Padres League girls cross country championship meet Wednesday afternoon at Cabrillo High in Lompoc.

McClish completed the 3-mile course in 18 minutes, 18 seconds, helping the Pirates finish fourth in the team competition and secure a berth into the CIF preliminaries Nov. 14 in Riverside.

On the boys side, Andrew Stafford placed second overall with a time of 15:19, leading Morro Bay to an eighth-place finish.

Nipomo’s boys team finished second in the race and qualified for the CIF preliminaries for the first time in the school’s history.

Sophomore Joe Gocke finished with the best time for the Titans with 15:44, four seconds faster than teammate Rogelio Flores.

Nipomo’s girls team finished third in the race.
