San Luis Obispo High girls tennis team shines at PAC 8 league finals

San Luis Obispo High put a singles player and two doubles teams into the semifinals of the PAC 8 girls tennis finals Friday at Templeton Tennis Ranch.

San Luis Obispo’s doubles teams of Sami Good and Maddie Handy and Amberly Clark and McKenzie Berkshire both reaches the semis, along with Jenny Zakaria in singles.

Also reaching the semis were Atascadero’s Nicoline Breytenbach in singles and Arroyo Grande’s doubles team of Mary Waterman and Delanie Dunkle.

Breytenbach, the No. 2 seed in singles play, will face No. 3 seed Kate Hardisty of Righetti on Saturday. Breytenbach hasn’t dropped a game in two wins at the tournament.

Zakaria, the No. 5 seed, faces top seed Claire Bouquet of St. Joseph. Zakaria knocked off the No. 4 seed Erika Egg of Arroyo Grande 6-3, 6-1, to reach the semifinals.

In doubles play, the No. 1-seeded team of Dunkle and Waterman lost only two games in two matches in reaching the semis, where they’ll face Berkshire and Clark, the league’s No. 4 seed.

Good and Handy, the No. 3 seed, face Julianne Ortega and Julianna Brunello of St. Joseph on Saturday after beating San Luis Obispo’s Alorah Towne and Riley Quinn 6-2, 7-6 (2) in the quarterfinals.
