Mission Prep quarterback Bryce Fledderman tossed three first half touchdown passes, and the Royals defeated Nipomo 24-7 on Friday night in Nipomo.

Fledderman completed his first 10 passes, with three of them going for touchdowns to Matthew Simmons, Patrick Miller and Brayden Corona, respectively. Fledderman finished the game 17 of 24 for 264 yards.

Conrad Ochotorena had three sacks for Mission Prep, and the defense had two interceptions of Nipomo quarterback Gavin Hall.

Miller Time: The Millers, Mission Prep’s First Family, combined forces for the second touchdown of the game. Timmy Miller was able to intercept a Gavin Hall pass and return it into Nipomo territory. A few plays later, Patrick Miller caught a 25-yard pass from Fledderman to give the Royals a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.

Momentum Killer: Nipomo started to find its rhythm in the third quarter as its running game got going and the defense started to slow the Mission Prep passing attack. But Royals linebacker Brayden Farr put a stop to that with an interception and a long return inside the red zone. The Royals converted on a Justin McKeague field goal with 7:53 left in the game to make it 24-7 and put the game out of reach.

What It Means: With the win, Mission Prep all but seals an undefeated Northern League Championship. The Royals still have two games left, but their opponents, Santa Maria and Morro Bay have combined for just two wins in 16 games.
