Prep girls tennis roundup: Arroyo Grande clinches PAC 8 title
Arroyo Grande’s Tahlia Walbrecht won the two sets she played 6-0, 6-1, as did Mary Waterman 6-1, 6-1, in the Eagles’ 15-3 win over Atascadero on Thursday. The tandem of Josephine Graeber and Lauren Midyett swept 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 for Arroyo Grande (16-3, 13-0) who clinched the PAC 8 title. Atascadero’s Nicoline Breytenbach won 6-3, Courtney Basden and Julia Clickard teamed up to win a set 6-4, Kyah Pomi and Samantha Schidmt won a set 7-5.
Cabrillo 12, Templeton 6
Mili Proft swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Bijou Burns and Sofia Talarico won a pair of sets 6-2, 7-6 for Templeton (7-8, 5-8 Los Padres League), who take on Coast Union in Cambria on Monday.
Morro Bay 9, Orcutt Academy 9 (78-67)
Gaia Relandini won 6-4, 6-1, 6-0 and Leone Koch swept 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and doubles June Janzen and Kaylee Denham won 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 for Morro Bay. (10-7, 7-6 LPL).
Righetti 12, Mission Prep 6
The team of Maggie Ma and Janet Gleason swept 6-0, 6-1, 6-1 for Mission Prep (6-12, 1-12 PAC 8), who take on San Luis Obispo on Tuesday.
Coast Union 10, Laguna Blanca 8
Maddie May swept 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 and the team of Lindy Ortiz and Rebecca Tavera took two out of three 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) for the Broncos. Michelle Campos took two out of three 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 for Coast Union (3-10), who broke their two year winning drought last week and are on a three-game winning streak.
