Eagles clinch share of PAC 8 title
The Arroyo Grande High girls tennis team beat Pioneer Valley 17-1 on Tuesday, clinching at least a share of the PAC 8 title.
The Eagles, who boast a 12-0 league record, were led by Tahlia Walbrecht, who won 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, and Erica Egg, who won 6-0, 6-0, 6-1. The team of Josephine Graeber and Casey Lieberman swept 6-2, 6-3, 6-0, for Arroyo Grande (15-3), who host Atascadero on Thursday.
Paso Robles 11, Mission Prep 7
The Bearcats’ Krista Nativadad took two out of three, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, and Sara Torres also won two of three, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1.
Ronnesha Nunez and Siena Berry swept 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, for the Bearcats (6-9, 4-8 PAC 8).
Mission Prep’s Grace Cegelski went 6-4, 7-5, 6-0. Janet Gleason and Maggie Ma took a set 6-0, and Sawyer Smith and Basia Mierswinski won a pair of sets 6-1, 6-4, for the Royals (5-11, 1-11 PAC 8).
Morro Bay 11, Lompoc 7
Gaia Relandini swept 7-5, 6-0, 6-0, and Leone Koch won 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, for the Pirates (9-7, 6-6 Los Padres League).
The doubles team of June Janzen and Kelly Dunham also won 6-2, 7-5, 6-1, for Morro Bay who will face Orcutt Academy on Thursday at home.
Templeton 13, Nipomo 5
Templeton’s Sofia Talarico and Bijou Burns swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, and Payal Patel and Emma Gray teamed up to sweep 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.
Anna Anselmi and Bugg Zendel won 6-3, 6-1, 6-1, and Mili Proft swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, in singles play for the Eagles (7-7, 5-7 LPL), who host Cabrillo on Thursday.
Julia Johnson won a pair of sets 6-3, 0-6, 6-1, and Jade DeSmet also took two of three 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, for Nipomo (2-15, 1-11), who face Santa Maria on Thursday.
