It wasn't pretty most of the time, but Atascadero High got it done Friday night with a 14-7 win over Righetti in Santa Maria.
Neither team scored a second-half touchdown but the Atascadero defense snagged two interceptions from Righetti freshman quarterback Chase Artopoeus to keep the Warriors at bay.
Quarterback Elijah Cooks scored on a quarterback sneak on the Greyhounds' first drive of the game and running back Marc Martin caught an 8-yard pass from Carson Rinkenberger for the game's third and final score.
Righetti's only touchdown of the night came on its opening drive on a D.J. Freitas 1-yard run.

Block is Hot: Zach Quigley blocked another kick for Atascadero. Last week, in the Greyhounds' thrilling win over James Logan, Quigley blocked an extra point in overtime to help Atascadero win by one. On Friday, he came off the corner on a Righetti field goal attempt in the first half to keep the score tied at 7-7.
Righetti Runner: D.J. Freitas had himself a game, but disappeared in the second half. After getting 17 carries for 123 yards in the first half, the senior running back only had five second-half carries. He finished the game with 22 caries for 148 yards and a touchdown.
R.J.'s Way: Atascadero likes to split carries between Marc Martin and R.J. Reusche, but tonight it was Reusche who got the majority of the carries to close out the game. Reusche had 19 carries for 104 yards, with 13 of those carries coming in the second half as Atascadero preserved its touchdown lead. Martin ended the game with 12 carries for 70 yards and 25 yards receiving.
What's Next: Atascadero (6-1, 1-0 PAC 5) has won four in a row and will play San Luis Obispo next week at home, a team that Righetti beat 40-7 last Friday. Righetti (2-5, 1-1 PAC 5) hosts Arroyo Grande.
