Paso Robles grad Van Dyk signs deal with Pittsburgh Steelers

Paso Robles High graduate and former St. Louis Rams draft pick Mitchell Van Dyk signed a reserve/futures contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Van Dyk, a 6-foot-7 offensive lineman who played collegiately at Portland State, was picked in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft by St. Louis, but was released in the final round of cuts before the regular season.

“Heading to Pittsburgh!” Van Dyk wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. “Another chance to make my dreams come true!”

By signing a reserve/futures contract, Van Dyk will open camp in Pittsburgh next season in hopes of making the final 53-man roster.
