Arroyo Grande girls roll to another PAC 7 girls water polo

The Arroyo Grande High girls water polo team continued its historic run through the

PAC 7 on Thursday, defeating Atascadero 12-3 for the program’s 102nd straight league victory.

Brooklyn Vander Veen finished with three goals as eight total players scored for the Eagles (3-3 overall, 2-0 PAC 7).

Marcela Radke and Melaine Popovich both scored twice for Arroyo Grande, and Alana Benson made nine saves in goal.

Alani Rinkenberger, Kylie Ferree and Emma Seitzer scored for the Greyhounds. Lauren Giggy made 11 saves in goal.

Paso Robles girls top St. Joseph in water polo

Zoe Zepp scored the go-ahead goal with 1:41 remaining, and Paso Robles hung on for an 11-10 girls water polo win over St. Joseph.

Shannon Rees finished with a team-high four goals for Paso Robles (3-4, 1-1 PAC 7). Zepp, Lauren Reed and Lauren Sowerby each scored twice. Chloe Walter also scored.

Kelsey Lewis made nine saves in net for the Bearcats.

Paso Robles trailed 10-8 with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter before scoring the final three goals.

Templeton loses in girls basketball tournament

Mari Stewart had 12 points and 18 rebounds, but it was not enough to lift the Templeton girls basketball team, which lost 52-44 to Ramona in the opening round of the Wolverine Shootout at Westview in San Diego.

Templeton (8-2) trailed 17-9 after one quarter and 28-16 at halftime.

Autumn Russell chipped in nine points, and Melat Zippi had eight.

The Eagles face Bishop and El Capitan today at noon and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
