Prep Roundup: Paso Robles' Souza sets school record in 800
Paso Robles High’s Zander Souza broke a school record in the 800 meters, and three Bearcats won multiple events at the Oak Grove Invitational track and field meet Saturday.
Souza won the boys 800 with a time of 1 minute, 56.04 seconds to set his school record.
On the girls side, Phoebe Fairbairin won the 100 hurdles and the 400 hurdles.
Bo Bonnheim and Imer Hernandez were the other two Bearcats to win multiple events. Bonneheim won the boys shot put (55 feet, 4 inches) and the discus (142-0), while Hernandez won the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles.
Mission Prep baseball team
The Mission Prep baseball team lost to Dunn 5-4, making the Royals 9-6 on the season.
The Royals never led. They did tie the score at 4 in the sixth inning, but Dunn answered in its next at-bat with two walks and a sacrifice fly to help produce a run.
Zack Brown went 2 for 3 for Mission Prep, and Joey Hall went 2 for 4.
