SLO moves into second place in league with win over Arroyo Grande
San Luis Obispo High School now sits in second place in the Mountain League after a 52-45 road win over Arroyo Grande on Tuesday.
The Tigers (13-13, 4-2 Mountain) applied good on-ball pressure defense to keep Arroyo Grande (13-13, 0-6) winless in league thus far this season.
The game stayed close for much of the contest as both teams strived to limit open looks and it became a defense battle.
SLO finished the contest by securing some late free throws to put the game away.
SLO was led in scoring by Vaughn Otto, who had 13 points, including four fourth-quarter free throws to give the Tigers the late edge. Other contributors included Beau Crew, who tallied 12 points; Hayden Brandow added 10 points.
Arroyo Grande was led by Jagger Young, who had 11 points; Cooper Ensign tallied 10 points.
SLO will compete for the second-place position, as powerhouse St. Joseph figures to cruise to the league title.
SLO is trailed by Atascadero, who sits at 3-3 in Mountain League and Mission Prep with a 2-4 league record.
SLO next faces St. Joseph (25-2, 6-0) on Friday at home and will host Mission Prep to end its regular season on Tuesday.
Arroyo Grande will look for its first league win facing Mission Prep on the road Friday before hosting Atascadero on Tuesday.
All upcoming games for both teams start at 6:30 p.m.
