Prep football: Paso Robles returns home, Arroyo Grande on the road at St. Joes

A look at this week’s high school football games involving San Luis Obispo County teams:

Tribune Sports Game of the Week: Clovis North (Fresno) at Paso Robles, 7 p.m.

Paso Robles (4-0) has one of the best offenses on the Central Coast and will go for its fifth win in a row against a solid Clovis North (3-1) team. Paso Robles running back Christian Erickson is leading the way with 12 touchdowns and 583 rushing yards this season.

Arroyo Grande at St. Joseph, 7 p.m.

Arroyo Grande has won its last three games after an opening-week loss to Lompoc (4-0). This week, Arroyo Grande (3-1) will travel to Santa Maria to face a St. Joseph (2-2) team coming off a win over Bishop Diego last Friday. Arroyo Grande is again expected to be without star linebacker Sam Ness when it faces a Knights offense with explosive running back C.J. Cole.

Nipomo at Cabrillo, 7 p.m.

Nipomo was embarrassed in a 28-7 loss last Friday at home against and will look to rebound on the road against Cabrillo (2-2). Nipomo’s running game was strong against Santa Ynez, but a poor defensive effort and a whole lot of penalties led to the loss. Expect the Titans to be ready to go on Friday.

San Luis Obispo at Dos Pueblos (Goleta), 7 p.m.

San Luis Obispo (0-4) let a lead slip away last Friday in a loss to Morro Bay (4-0). This week, the Tigers will again look to running backs Javon Montgomery and Pierson Mosichuk to get its first win of the season against quarterback Kellen Roberts and Dos Pueblos (3-1).

Templeton at Santa Ynez, 7 p.m.

Templeton (1-2) will have its hands full when it travels to Santa Ynez to take on the Pirates (3-0) and quarterback Michael McCoy. The senior passer, who also plays defensive back and kicks, ran wild on Nipomo last Friday.

Atascadero at Madera, 7:30 p.m.

After playing a tough schedule in the first four games, Atascadero (1-3) will get a team that has yet to win a game in Madera (0-4). Look for Greyhounds quarterback Carson Rinkenberger (9 TDs) to continue his solid play.

Mission Prep at Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth), Canceled

Mission Prep (1-2) canceled its game against against Sierra Canyon (5-0). According to school officials, the team it could not field enough players to play against talented Sierra Canyon. Both teams will have a chance to reschedule another game. But if they are not able to, Mission Prep will forfeit.
