Prep roundup: Paso Robles volleyball sweeps San Luis Obispo

The Paso Robles volleyball team swept San Luis Obispo 25-19, 25-12, 25-21 on Tuesday night led by settor Gabby Morrison, who had 24 assists, six kills and six aces. Madison Morrison added 11 kills, 20 digs and three aces for Paso Robles (6-0, 2-0 PAC 8).

Sofie Janette had 10 assists, and Dasha Novotny had four kills for the Tigers.

Righetti 3, Atascadero 0

Taylor Degnan had four kills and eight digs for Atascadero in a 25-13, 26-24, 25-15 loss. Abby Wright had four kills and nine digs for the Greyhounds (4-2, 1-1 PAC 8), who play Mission Prep at home on Thursday.

Nipomo 3, Cabrillo 0

The Nipomo High School girls volleyball team swept Cabrillo 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 behind Krisi Ramsey’s seven kills and five aces.

Gennae Abatti had five kills, and Nana Lemons had 19 digs for Nipomo (4-2, 2-0 Los Padres League). Hope Goodall added 17 digs, and Kylie Mendez recorded 24 assists. Nipomo plays Santa Ynez on Thursday.

Santa Ynez 3, Templeton 0

Santa Ynez eased to a Los Padres League victory over Templeton.

Coast Union 3, Gunn 0

The Broncos earned their first victory of the season, 25-21, 25-13, 25-15. Ailyn Casas had six kills, Karis Lawson had six kills and two aces, and Gigi Stoothoff had five kills, three aces and 26 assists. Coast Union (1-4) will host a tournament this Saturday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Atascadero 10, Mission Prep 8

Nicoline Breytenbach swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles team of Courtney Basden and Sarah Wulff won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 for the Greyhounds.

Izzi Marshall, Julia Wagner and Avery Munster each won two out of three singles sets for the Royals (3-1, 1-1 PAC 8).

Arroyo Grande 16, St. Joseph 2

Josceline Ramirez swept 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles team of Mary Waterman and Casey Lieberman won 6-4, 6-0 for the Eagles. Waterman later teamed up with Natalie Porter and won 6-1. Arroyo Grande (5-0, 2-0 PAC 8) plays at Mission Prep Wednesday.

Paso Robles 18, Pioneer Valley 0

Anya Connolly swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 and teammate Regan Dubroth won 6-0, 6-4, 6-0 for the Bearcats. Stephany Abraca won all three of her sets, 6-0, 6-1, 6-2, and the doubles team of Rose Singleton and Becca Slason won 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.

Livia Rambo and Alex Fletes won 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, and Pina Contresas and Joanna Diaz won one set 6-0 for Paso Robles (8-5, 2-1 PAC 8).

San Luis Obispo 15, Righetti 3

Jenny Zacharia swept 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, and all the San Luis Obispo doubles swept on the day. The Tigers (6-0, 3-0 PAC 8) will play host to Pioneer Valley on Thursday.

Morro Bay 16, Santa Maria 2

Katrina Siems swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 and Morro Bay swept all doubles sets. Macy Sheets and Judy Withun-At won 6-2, 6-1, 6-4, and Grace Ordonez and Karen Chunbe teamed up to win 6-3, 6-1, 6-1. Camille Thibodeaux and Ellena Korisheli also won 6-0, 7-6 (2), 6-0 for the Pirates (3-3, 1-1 LPL), who will play host to Cabrillo at home on Thursday.

Santa Ynez 14, Templeton 4

Mili Proft won a pair of sets 6-1, 6-0 for the Eagles (0-3, 0-2 LPL), who play at Lompoc on Thursday.

Cabrillo 13, Nipomo 5

Julia Johnson swept for the Titans, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 and Sarah Higginbottom won two out of three, 6-1, 6-2. Nipomo is 3-1 and 1-1 in league play.

BOYS WATER POLO

Paso Robles 22, St. Joseph 2

Fourteen of the Bearcats’ 16 players scored on the day in their PAC 8 opener. Brennan Jokel and Zach Tucker each had three goals, and Iver Hansen had 11 saves in goal for the Bearcats (8-3). Paso Robles will play Cabrillo in a non-league contest Thursday.

San Luis Obispo 10, Atascadero 7

Shey Dorji and Mark Olson each had three goals to lead the Tigers to open league play. Mark Erbstoesser and Jacob Donath each had a pair of goals, and Jordan Troy had 13 saves in goal for San Luis Obispo (6-3), which will face Paso Robles next Tuesday.

Kyler Warren had four goals, and Alec Grant had two goals for the Greyhounds (3-4, 0-1 PAC 8), who play Nipomo on Thursday.

Righetti 13, Arroyo Grande 8

Shane Hoover and Chasse Taylor each had two goals in the Eagles’ PAC 8-opening loss. Michael Criswell, Bear Waymire, Nathan Solis and Ethan Klemowicz each added a goal for Arroyo Grande (1-3). Ethan Mankins had six saves, and Jared Martin had five more saves.

GIRLS GOLF

Arroyo Grande 258, Mission Prep NS

Arroyo Grande’s Kinsey McBryde shot a 44 to medal at the par-36 Avila Beach Golf Resort. Karley Pinkerton recorded a 47 for the Eagles (6-0, 2-0 PAC 8), and Hannah Jones added a 51.

Mission Prep was led by Kendahl Hix, who shot a 51.

San Luis Obispo 243, Paso Robles 271

Isabel Carpenter shot a 3-over 38 to medal for San Luis Obispo on the front-nine of the Paso Robles Golf Club. Hannah Ogden shot a 46, and Lily Svetich carded a 50 for the Tigers, who play in the PAC 8 tournament at Paso Robles on Thursday.

Nipomo 268, Morro Bay 274

Carah Frank led Nipomo to a dual-meet win Monday over Morro Bay, taking medalist honors in the process with a 10-over 45 on the front-nine of the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Brooke Cuzick shot a 47, and Brooke Panzadri a 55 to lead Nipomo.

Cassy Ketchum led the way for Morro Bay, whose top three was rounded out by Lauren Augusta (52) and Brooke Mace (51).
