Prep roundup: Paso Robles boys water polo scores win over Santa Maria

Zack Tucker scored seven goals to lead the Paso Robles boys water polo team to a 16-9 victory Wednesday over Santa Maria.

John Nash and Mason Steiner each scored three goals, while Garrett Wilson added two and Jacob Cagleiro one. Iver Hansen recorded 14 saves, including on a penalty try.

Paso Robles improved to 4-2 overall with the win and will next play Friday in the Conejo Classic when they open the tournament against Oxnard.

GIRLS TENNIS

Morro Bay 16, Pioneer Valley 2

Morro Bay cruised to victory Wednesday over Pioneer Valley.

Alyse Pearson won 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, and Laetitia Messmer 6-2, 6-3, 6-0 in singles. All three of the Pirates doubles teams also won their three sets: Judy Withun-At and Macey Sheets (6-3, 6-2, 6-2), Grace Ordonez and Karen Chumbe (6-2, 6-2, 6-4) and Ellena Korisheli and Camille Thibodeaux (6-1, 6-0, 6-1).

Morro Bay improved to 2-2 overall and will open Los Padres League play Thursday against Santa Ynez.

BOYS WATER POLO

Malibu 12, Arroyo Grande 9

Arroyo Grande fell to Division 3 opponent Malibu on Wednesday, 12-9.

Arroyo Grande (1-2) got two goals each from Bear Waymire, Shane Hoover and Michael Criswell.

Jared Martin had six saves in goal for the Eagles.

Arroyo Grande will open up league play against rival Righetti next Thursday.
