Local golf pro Matt Hansen earns Canadian tour card

Former Morro Bay High standout and UC Davis graduate Matt Hansen placed fourth in the Canadian Tour qualifying school tournament held at La Purisima on Friday in Lompoc, earning his Canadian Tour card.

Hansen, who turned pro last year, will be eligible to play on the Canadian PGA Tour this coming year.

The Los Osos native was one of nine golfers under par at the tournament, shooting a 2-under 286.

He rebounded from a third-round 75 to shoot 71 on the final day, joining opening- and second-round scores of 70.
