Matt Hansen finishes second in pro golf event
Los Osos native and Morro Bay High graduate Matt Hansen continued a strong start to his professional career, finishing a close second at the Northern California Open at Almaden Country Club on Tuesday.
Hansen shot an 8-under 64 in the final round to force a tie with Kyle Souza at an overall score of 20 under — seven strokes better than the third-place finisher.
The two went to a sudden death playoff, where Souza won with an eagle on the first hole.
Hansen’s third round, in which he came from two strokes down to draw even with Souza, featured an eagle, six birdies and no bogeys. He had just two bogeys in the entire tournament compared to 20 birdies.
