Cuesta College softball team sweeps doubleheader against Oxnard
The Cuesta College softball team swept a Western State Conference doubleheader against Oxnard on Tuesday afternoon at Cuesta Field.
The Cougars’ used a four-run fourth inning to win the opener 9-0 in six innings.
Designated player Demi Danell led Cuesta’s 10-hit attack with a 3-for-4 performance offensively. She also scored twice and her RBI double capped the fourth-inning surge that put the game away.
In the nightcap, Danell pitched five shutout innings, scattering two hits and striking out four in a 6-0 victory.
Danell improved her record in the circle to 10-2 on the year.
Former Atascadero High standout Cheyenne Hufstetler went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in sixth inning that brought the score to its final margin.
Cuesta (12-5, 2-0 WSC) is scheduled to play at Moorpark at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
