Cuesta softball splits two games at home mini-tournament

The Cuesta College softball team split a pair of games at the Cuesta Mini-Tournament on Saturday.

The Cougars lost to Sacramento 10-1 in the first game. Cheyenne Hufstetler drove in the Cougars’ lone run, driving in Sabina Ybarra. Christina Solis came on in relief and threw four innings, allowing three unearned runs on five hits while striking out five.

Cuesta (6-3) bounced back to down Pasadena 1-0 in the second game. Hufstetler drove in the game’s only run, again scoring Ybarra.

Demi Danell (5-2) threw a four-hit shutout, walking one and striking out 13.

Sacramento defeated Pasadena 4-1 in the second game, winning the mini-tournament.
