Cuesta softball team beats Bakersfield
The Cuesta softball team scored three times in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 3-1 victory over Bakersfield on Friday. Demi Danell (4-1) pitched a complete game — giving up one earned run on a home run in the second inning — with three strikeouts and three walks.
The Renegades (3-3) stranded seven runners. Cheyenne Hufstetler doubled home a pair of runs and would score on the play after a throwing error by Bakersfield.
Bakersfield brought in reliever Marina Felipe, who would retire the next 14 Cuesta batters.
The win for Cuesta (5-2) marks the 314th victory for coach Allison Merzon, passing Mike Lee on the all-time softball win list in school history.
